Capture

Connect meeting sources

Set up Google Meet capture, and what a bot fallback costs.

Connect Google once, from Settings → Integrations. CTX reads your calendar and looks for meetings the connected account organizes.

The free path: a native transcript

  • The connected Google account must be the meeting's organizer, and its Workspace edition must have meeting transcription turned on.
  • When both are true, CTX reads Google's own transcript after the call — no bot in the meeting, no extra cost.
  • A meeting CTX could not capture this way still shows up, with the specific reason (not the organizer, transcripts off, no transcript produced yet).
This is the one step CTX cannot do for you: Google has no API to turn on transcription for your account. Everything else on this page — connecting, capturing, drafting tickets — happens on its own once this is set.

Turning transcription on, in Google Meet

Only Workspace editions that include Meet transcription can produce one at all — Business Standard and up, Enterprise, and Education Plus. A personal Gmail account or Business Starter never will, whatever you enable; the fallback bot below is the only way CTX captures those.

  1. 1Per meeting, as it happens: in the Meet call, open Activities (the puzzle-piece icon in the bottom bar) → Transcripts → Start transcript. Anyone the host lets record can do this, not only the organizer.
  2. 2Per meeting, ahead of time: when you create the event in Google Calendar with a Meet link attached, its meeting details include a transcript toggle — turn it on there and Meet starts one automatically once the call begins, with nobody needing to remember on the day.
  3. 3For everyone, by default: a Workspace admin sets this org-wide at admin.google.com → Apps → Google Workspace → Google Meet → Meet video settings, where transcription can be turned on (or made the default) for the whole organization rather than per meeting.

Forgot, or transcription wasn't available for that call? Overview shows exactly why a specific meeting fell back or was skipped — it's not a silent gap you have to go looking for.

The fallback: a recording bot

When the native path isn't available — someone else organized the call, or transcription is off — CTX can send a bot to join and record instead, at a per-hour cost. Set how this may happen under Settings → Capture policy: off, only meetings you organize, or every meeting on the calendar; and under Settings → Consent, whether the bot announces itself in the chat, waits for the host to acknowledge it, or never joins at all (native transcripts only).

Zoom and Microsoft Teams capture are planned but not available yet — only Google Meet is live today.
